- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Xtra distribution
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
-
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- There are a number of ways the Xtra can be distributed with your projector or packaged application.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- You can place the Xtra in a folder called ΓÇÿXtrasΓÇÖ in the same folder as your application. This is the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- recommended method, particularly if your application will run from a slow medium such as CD-ROM.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- This method will provide the fastest loading application, because the Xtra will not need to be
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- extracted every time your application runs.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- In Director 6 and later, you can embed the Xtra into the projector. Embedding the Xtra in Director 6
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- and 6.5 is not recommended - these versions of Director have problems in this area. Embedding in
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Director 7 and later is much more reliable. To embed the xtra, you need to manually add it to the list
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- of Xtras to be embedded. Choose the Modify -> Movie -> Xtras menu. A dialog box will appear. Click
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- the ΓÇÿAddΓÇÖ button, and select ΓÇÿbudapi.x32ΓÇÖ (Windows) or ΓÇÿBuddy API XtraΓÇÖ (Macintosh). In Director 7
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- and later, make sure that the Include in projector option is checked.

- Embedding xtras under Director MX and MX 2004 - Macintosh
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
-
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- To create a Classic projector and embed Buddy API, you need to arrange your files in a certain way.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- 1. If using MX, place the Classic version of the xtra - 'Buddy API Xtra' - into the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Director MX:Classic
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- MacOS:Xtras
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- folder in the Director MX folder.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- If using MX 2004, place the Classic version of the xtra - 'Buddy API Xtra' - into the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Director MX
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- 2004:Cross Platform Resources:Classic MacOS:Xtras
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- folder.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- 2. Place the OSX version of the xtra - 'Buddy API OSX Xtra' - into the Xtras folder in the Director MX
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- folder. In MX 2004, the Xtras folder is in the Configuration folder. Note that you can place the xtra
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- in a folder in the xtras folder, but if you do you need to make sure the classic version is in a folder
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- of the same name.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- 3. You need to rename the OSX version from 'Buddy API OSX Xtra' to 'Buddy API
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Xtra' to match the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Classic version. The actual name doesn't matter, but both versions must be named the same.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- 4. Go to the Modify->Movie->Xtras menu and then add 'Buddy API Xtra' to the list of xtras to be
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- embedded.

- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Making cross platform projectors
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- under Director MX 2004
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
-
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Using Director MX 2004, it is possible to make Mac projectors under Windows, and vice versa.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- To make a OSX projector from Windows, you need to place flattened copies of the Mac xtra
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- (included in the Mac download) into the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Director MX 2004\Configuration\Cross Platform
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Resources\Macintosh\Xtras
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- folder.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- To make a W
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- indows projector from an OSX system, you need to place the budapi.x32 file into the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
-
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Director MX 2004:Configuration:Cross Platform Resources:Windows:Xtras
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- folder.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- In both cases, you then need to change the xtrainfo.txt file in the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Director MX 2004\Configuration
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
-
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- folder. Add this line to the end of the file.
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- [#namePPC:"Buddy API OSX Xtra", #nameW32:"budapi.x32"]
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- Noe that if you have renamed the xtra file names, make sure that you change the names in the
- --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
- above line.
